By integrating digital learning into a traditional classroom, Blended Learning has the potential to greatly impact education. As more schools boast of 1:1 device acquisition, teachers are seeking to turn their traditional units into Blended Units. A blended unit involves direct instruction, class interaction, and online learning. To maximize effectiveness it is important to begin with the desired learning outcomes and then determine what activities and assessments would best demonstrate these outcomes have been accomplished. By considering which of these activities could be best or better achieved through an online environment and how face to face interaction can motivate the participation in these online activities, effectiveness will be maximized. The Statistics unit below integrates classroom learning, computer lab time, collaboration, and a final project. Creating this project involved understanding Statistics as well a designing an innovative approach to involving technology.
